Explore Occupations, Find a Career to Match Your Interests

Whether you are graduating from school or college or making a career change, how do you know for sure what occupation to choose? How and where can this information be found? The information is out there. And its free.

The first step is assessment. Then you are ready to begin exploring occupations that are compatible with your interests, skills, abilities and values. If you haven't already taken an assessment, go to assessments now, then come back when you have completed that section.

Hopefully you printed your assessment results. Begin by matching your Holland Code to occupations listed in O*NET. You can search occupations by one, two or three letters of your career key.

Additionally, you can search occupations by knowledge, skills, abilities, work activities and work values. Interested in occuptions requiring an apprenticeship, certificate or license? O*NET provides that information also.

For detailed information ranging from job descriptions, work environment, educational and skill requirements, and growth projections, go to Occupational Outlook Handbook.

For information pertaining to a specific industry, go to Career Guide to Industries.

Once you have narrowed down your occupational choices, you can get the most up-to-date wage data and other labor market information pertaining to specific areas (metropolitan/county/state).
