My Career Voyage! Charting The Course

My Career Voyage: Charting the Course is a career planning program that provides guidance to career explorers as they chart their course. My Career Voyage: Charting the Course is designed to take the career explorer on a voyage that will lead to a career that is a good match. The program is based on the book, My Career Voyage: Charting the Course . Career explorers can participate individually at their own pace at a time that is convenient for them. Or they can participate in a group workshop consisting of 4-6 sessions that are lead by a certified career development facilitator, or a qualified career services provider trained to lead the program.

Career explorers will obtain and use the necessary tools to successfully plan and manage their career in an easy step-by-step fashion. My Career Voyage: Charting the Course™ consists of the following components:

1. ASSESS: Look Within – The first tool in the career voyage is the spyglass. Rather than looking out, the career spyglass looks within to assess interests, skills, abilities, personality traits and work values. Before you can decide on the right career, you must “know yourself.”
   
2. EXPLORE: Find Direction – The career compass provides direction on the career voyage. It finds occupations that match your interests, abilities, personality and values.
   
3. PLAN: Chart the Course – The career chart involves the development of a career plan and preparation of marketing materials: résumé, cover letter, business card and career portfolio.
   
4. NAVIGATE: Take the Wheel – The career wheel will help the career explorer navigate a successful job search by using the most successful job search strategies.
   

Staying on Course in the career voyage is a life-long process. Change is inevitable. Adaptability is crucial in this constantly changing labor market. Being prepared and knowing what to do to keep your career and life in balance is key to staying on course.
