Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Day, Feb. 13

On Saturday February 13 college financial aid officers and other volunteers will be available to help students complete their free application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) forms. The program is open to students who plan to attend college in the 2010-11 academic year and will be held at more than 100 sites across North Carolina.

Join us if you are considering starting your own business. This workshop will help determine if you have what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur.
During the workshop, you will complete a confidential self-assessment aimed at helping you decide whether small business ownership is right for you.

Wake Tech offering JobsNOW training for unemployed

Wake Tech is pleased to offer JobsNOW training in the following areas:

Certified Nursing Assistant: The CNA program focuses on basic nursing skills for providing care to patients in a variety of health care settings. Classes cover communication, safety, patients’ rights, mental health, emergency care, and more.

Medical Healthcare Office Occupation: This program provides competencies in medical terminology, billing and diagnostic coding processes, and health insurance, among others, for work in the medical office setting.

Create a Website, Blog, Using Wordpress

Wake Tech Community College's Small Business Center will hold "Create Your Own Website & Blog Using Wordpress" Feb. 1, 8, and 15.

This class will provide hands-on instruction to create a working web site plus a blog that you can maintain yourself (students should have working knowledge of the internet). There are three parts to the class:

  • 2/1 - Understanding and Setting up Blog-based Websites
  • 2/8 - Using and Editing Your Website and Blog Widgets

    Senator Richard Burr is pleased to invite Veterans to attend a Veterans Fair to talk one-on-one with officials to address individual needs. The fair will give veterans the opportunity to have questions answered by Veterans Administration officials regarding claims and benefits, home loans and housing, the G.I. Bill, employment and training programs, healthcare, transition and readjustment programs, insurance, homelessness, contracting with the government, and federal legislation that affects veterans. Friends and leaders of JfL have joined me in covering miles on behalf of those served by JfL so that we can make an impact in the lives of 500 men and women as we close out this year.     Social Security Disability: Top 10 Things You Need to Know, Dec. 5

    Find out what you need to know about filing for Social Security Disability.

    Attorney Juan Flores will lead this informative program on Social Security Disability Dec. 5 from 2-3 p.m. at Cameron Village Library, 1930 Clark Avenue, Raleigh. Flores received his law degree from UNC-Chapel Hill. His experience includes working for 12 years as an Attorney Advisor with the Social Security Administration. Flores has also worked for several years in private practice representing individuals who have applied for Social Security Disability.
